This technical product presents suggestions for activities for Problem Solving in the Early Years and is the result of research carried out by Maria Marisa Braz dos Santos and guided by Maria Teresa de Moura Ribeiro in the Postgraduate Program – Professional Master's in Education at the University of Taubaté, entitled “Problem Solving in Elementary Education: developing mathematical thinking in third year students in the Early Years”. This research aimed to develop mathematical thinking in students in a third-year Early Years classroom through Problem Solving..
Twenty-six students from a regular class in the third year of the Initial Years enrolled in an elementary school in a municipal network in the Vale do Paraíba region participated in this study., in the State of São Paulo.
This educational product brings the 16 activities carried out with students, in which Problem Solving was used to explore mathematical content with participating students, through group work in an enjoyable and meaningful way.
