The Profa. Dr. Suzana Lopes Salgado Ribeiro, from the University of Taubaté (UNITAU), participant in the 18th Congress of the Brazilian Studies Association (BRACE 2026), carried out between days 7 e 10 July at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), in Salvador. The event is considered one of the most relevant in the field of Brazilian studies abroad and in the country, bringing together more than two thousand congressmen.
In day 9 July, the teacher presented the work entitled “Words that cross experiences: Neoliberalism and Gender in High School”, inside the panel “The Counter-Reformation of Secondary Education in Brazil: oppositions and resistance in Basic and Higher Education”, coordinated by Profa. Dr. Maria Lima, from the Curriculum Research Group, Culture and History (GEPEH/UFMS).
The presentation integrates the partial results of the research project “Teacher training in the context of educational policies: the implementation and relations between the New High School, a BNCC e a BNC-FP”, financed by Universal Call 2023 of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). The Profa. Suzana Ribeiro works as a researcher at GEPEH/UFMS, in addition to its link with UNITAU.
The panel, who discussed the developments, contradictions and social and pedagogical impacts of recent educational reforms in the country, also brought together studies by researchers from UNICAMP, URCA and UFMS. According to the project coordinator, recordings of all presentations will soon be made available on the official GEPEH/UFMS social networks, enabling the academic community and the general public to follow the debates presented at the congress.
