This last Wednesday, day 20/09, our teacher from the Masters in Education Program, Dr. Suzana Ribeiro, the student, Pedro Brígido from MDH, shared the stage at the 17th PRIMAVERA DOS MUSEUS organized by the Pindamonhangaba Historical Pedagogical Museum, talking about “DEMOCRACY AND THE RIGHT TO MEMORY: the need for gender plural stories”.
This edition of the Spring of Museums brought as its central theme the Memories and Democracy of LGBT+ people, indigenous people and quilombolas as inspiration for carrying out their activities, bringing the opportunity for reflection on the construction of democracy for its agents.
Suzana Ribeiro spoke with participants about the impacts on the construction of national museology and the representations of its collection for the construction of the Right to Memory for subordinated groups.
In collaboration, master's student Pedro Brígido, explained about the particularities of the History of the LGBTQIAPN+ Movement and how the Right to Memory, as an exercise of the guarantee of the Democratic State of Rights, takes on the role of an instrument of (R)Existence for many vulnerable groups.
And as an unexpected surprise that enriched the debates, students from the Municipality's Young Adult Education class joined the event to deepen their knowledge, contributing to reflection on representations in memory spaces.
The debate on sensitive topics like these in cultural spaces that historically represented moved away from the demands of many social groups, today highlight the importance of recognizing that democracy is made by many hands, that we associate the debate on the resumption of the construction of democracy with the participation of many of its agents who are still invisible or marginalized today.
