Students from the Masters in Education at UNITAU apply a project focused on the quality of teaching in state schools

Students of Professional Masters in Education (MPE) from the University of Taubaté (UNITAU) are applying projects with focus on the line 3 Master “Practices for Equity” in schools in the state school system. To the proposal, brought by the São Paulo Department of Education (Seduct), aims to work with the management teams of public schools in the region, strengthening them through access to methodologies that will be replicated with teachers.

The initiative proposes a group work planning for the directors, Deputy Directors and Coordinators, that can be passed on to teachers of state schools. Furthermore, There are actions aimed at learning students in academic environments. The initiative involves 17 thousand students from schools in eight municipalities: taubate, Hunt, Paraibuna, Lake, Serra Nativity, Redemption of the Serra, Jambeiro and São Luiz do Paraitinga.

“The Professional Master in Education aims to train education teachers committed to overcoming educational problems and prepared to adapt educational practices to different sociocultural realities, favoring the inclusion and learning of all. Seeing our master's students carrying the reflections lived with our teachers and colleagues and expanding this debate demonstrates that we fulfill our primordial mission ”, states the general coordinator of the MPE, prof. Dr. Juliana Marcondes Bussolotti.

MPE student Lyara Araújo Gomes Garcia reports how the project is applied. “The intention is for managers to experience and discuss the techniques and methodologies. Then, ATPC meetings [Collective Pedagogical Working Classes], with teachers, should bring this look of the importance of studying and planning, looking at the scope sequence [Description of a learning sequence], principally, Group work and exchange for the construction of schedules and classes planning always focusing on student learning ”.

Nonetheless, the connection between the master's degree and the state school system should provide improvement in teaching practices, Overcoming adversities, And the support for managers is essential so that they give teachers adequate knowledge, which are protagonists in the classrooms.

The Regional Teaching Leader, Lidiane da Silva Cesar Gonçalves, details the impact of the union between the master's degree and the state school system. “Promotes the continuing education of teachers, offering training and professional update opportunities. This can culminate in a more competent faculty and prepared to face the contemporary challenges of the educational field ”.

The project is still at the beginning and may change to meet the demands of each school, In order to better help managers and teachers of the state school system.
