In this episode, professor Thaís Ferreira da Costa presents her research “Numerical Conversations and Financial Education: mathematical reasoning, group work and engagement in high school”. The conversation explores the role of Number Conversations (Number Talks) as dialogical practices that favor meaningful learning and mathematical argumentation in contexts of social vulnerability. Inspired by Critical Mathematics Education and Education for Equity, Thaís discusses how sensitive listening and working in heterogeneous groups contribute to reconfiguring the classroom space as an environment of belonging, authorship and collective thinking.
