Between 25 e 27 October, Rachel Duarte Abdala and Suzana Lopes Salgado Ribeiro were involved in the organization and mediation of the GT 26 – Technologies and innovations: culture, knowledge, artifacts and sustainability, with presentation of works from different universities and regions of Brazil.
MPE teachers participated, like this, of the symposium organized by the Brazilian Association of Social Studies of Sciences and Technologies (ESOCITE.BR), based at the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL). The theme of the event was discussions on “SCIENCE IN DARK TIMES: DECOLONIZING THOUGHT AND TERRITORIALIZING DISPUTES”, that had space for discussions at conferences, round tables, short courses, workshops and working groups. At the event it was possible to reflect on social concerns and the commitment to the development of research in Brazil to build a diversification of knowledge production attentive to regional specificities and demands, stimulating interdisciplinarity and regional exchanges, nationals and internationals. On this trail, reflect on the social uses and abuses that have been made in the name of science, as well as uncovering the place of scientific research in legitimizing processes of domination and submission seem to be urgent tasks in and for the production of knowledge.
