Professor of the Masters in Regional Development Dr.. Maria Angela Boccara de Paula presided over the opening of the South Southeast Symposium on Stomatherapy, ceremony that marked the commemorations of the 25 years of Stomatherapy in Brazil.
Made by Sobest (Brazilian Society of Stomatherapy) between the days 31 of may and 03 June in Águas de Lindoia, the event brought together approx. 350 people, among professionals, exhibitor speakers, and aimed to unite technical and interpersonal knowledge, contributing to the recognition of nurses, as well as the improvement of the assistance provided to all those who need specialized attention.
Field little known by nursing and health professionals in the country, stomatherapy deals with the care of people with stomas, wounds and incontinence. “It is our wish that all people with ostomies, wounds and incontinence can be cared for by a Stomatherapist”, explains teacher Angela, who assumed this year the presidency of Sobest, must remain at the head of the entity until 2017.
