The University of Taubaté (UNITAU), through the Postgraduate Programs in Applied Linguistics and Education, holds the 5th edition of the Vale do Paraíba Teachers and Students Meeting (V EPAVA), that occurs on the days 13 e 14 of June. The objective is to promote reflections on teaching and pedagogical practices in an empathetic way and aligned with contemporary debates, respecting diversity in the academic environment.
This new edition aims to bring together teachers and students from different areas, promoting dialogue and exchange of experiences, so that it is possible to welcome and value differences, strengthening a collective struggle for justice and equality.
From this perspective, the teacher. Dr. Juliana Marcondes Bussolotti, coordinator ofProfessional Master in Education at UNITAU, highlights the relevance of these debates in promoting more empathetic and inclusive environments and professionals in academia.
“We will have an initial lecture with students and graduates from both programs, which will make it possible to bring together basic education teachers, undergraduate students, managers, pedagogical coordinators and others interested in the area of education. This central theme, language education in times of uncertainty, resistances, affections and new ways of existing, says a lot about the event proposal, which is to open a space to think about education as a field of creation, sensitivity and transformation.”
The teacher also highlights that V EPAVA's programming values student protagonism, offering students the opportunity to share personal stories and experiences anonymously or publicly, which contributes to a greater understanding, by teachers, of the difficulties and experiences faced by students.
“The importance of the event lies in its commitment to critical training, reflective and sensitive of teachers and students. Unlike many traditional academic events, EPAVA seeks to create a discussion space, of exchanging and valuing real knowledge experienced in schools. It connects the university and public schools in a more horizontal way, recognizing that both teacher and student have a lot to teach, learn and interact to transform this place.”
The event is free. The meeting on Friday takes place in the Rectory's Acts room. Entrance must be on Rua Quatro de Março, 432, Center, Taubaté or Rua Expedicionário Ernesto Pereira, 225, Gate 1 (postgraduate entrance) of the Department of Communication and Business (CEN). Not Saturday, is carried out remotely with live transmission viaYouTube. Participation and registration, as well as the submission of reports, must be registered through the Even3 platform, herebylink.
UNITAU in promoting equality
Holding events such as the 5th edition of the Vale do Paraíba Teachers and Students Meeting reinforces UNITAU's commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS) and HIM. In particular, ODS axis 4 (Quality Education), ODS 10 (Reducing Inequalities) e 16 (Paz, justice and effective institutions).
For the Prof. Dr. Luiz Guilherme de Brito Arduino, teacher representing theMaster's degree in Applied Linguistics from UNITAU, the institution plays a fundamental role in the formation of a fairer society through quality education.
“The essence of EPAVA is to be a democratic space, with the aim of listening to teachers and students to build knowledge through new practices. It is an accessible event from the point of view of the language and activities contained in the programming. I.e, UNITAU further demonstrates its commitment to the school community, promoting relevant discussions that the community itself is seeking to learn about, share and discuss”, explains.
Furthermore, the teacher reports how the discussions held at the meeting can establish approximations of what is experienced in basic and higher education, strengthening the exchange of experiences and the collective construction of knowledge, through direct contact with teachers and students at different educational levels.
“It is an opportunity for teachers and students to update themselves, holding important discussions that also allow (re)think about your teaching practices. And in this edition, our proposal is to discuss and share pedagogical practices that embrace emotions, differences and fight for justice and equality together.”, ends.
