The Application Project, Research and Extension (PAPEX) of students in the 3rd semester of the Graphic Design course at the University of Taubaté (UNITAU) was presented, last Tuesday night (10), in the Active Methodologies room of the Department of Communication and Business (CEN). The activity also included the participation of graduates of the Advertising course, Plínio Macedo, the ‘Prosinha’, who enchanted the audience with his storytelling.

The activity, coordinated by Profa. Ma. Renata Maria Monteiro Stochero, aimed to provide students with practical experience of essential skills for training in Graphic Design. The students also had the partnership of the UNITAU Pedagogy course.

“When they went through the entire process of conceiving the book until its publication, groups of students experience the technical issues of the profession and learn to deal with emotional issues, like creativity, self-confidence and empathy, which are essential for professional and personal growth. This activity not only prepares them technically, but also contributes to its integral growth, training more complete professionals prepared for the challenges of the market”, explains the teacher.

The night also featured the special participation of the graduate of the Advertising course and author of 3 illustrated texts, Plínio Macedo, which brought to life the stories of the eight books illustrated by the students through engaging storytelling.

“Once again I'm here with the Graphic Design people, in a super beautiful work with storytelling and book presentation. Whenever I am called by the University, I’ll be back with pleasure”, commented excitedly.

For student Júlia de Melo Costa, the experience was remarkable. “The creation process, in addition to being challenging, was an experience that required strong group work, collaboration and creativity. Seeing the book and the finished illustrations gave us a very rewarding and unique feeling”.

In addition to providing new discoveries and learning, The development of books aims to improve the structuring and production of printed graphic materials.
